I’m looking to connect with Digital Artists, to include them in an international touring art exhibition called Common Ground www.commonground2008.com. Los Angeles, CA - A selection of artwork from "Yo! What Happened to Peace?", poster exhibit, will be on display at Imix Books in Eagle Rock, CA from March 4, 2007 to April 1, 2007. The "Yo!" show will be shown in conjunction with "We Say No," a participatory activist video project. This event is presented by The Ministry of Culture and will have an opening reception on Sunday March 4, 2007 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

"Yo! What Happened To Peace?" is an exhibition of contemporary pro-peace, anti-war & anti-occupation posters, designed to spread the message of non-violence and showcase the beauty of hand-crafted printing. After traveling to Tokyo, San Francisco, New York, Milan, Rejkyavik, Washington D.C., Boston and Chicago, the "Yo!" show is making a return to its hometown of Los Angeles before heading back to Europe for a series of exhibitions. Selections include works by Chaz Bojorquez, Bughouse, Freddi C, Robbie Conal, Emek, Shepard Fairey, Karen Fiorito, Brandy Flower, Forkscrew Graphics, Man One, Gustavo Garcia Vaca, Favianna Rodriguez, Mear One, Spectr and many others. Vigilante Art is about installing art in areas unexpected... It is not so much an in your face activity as it is about making subtle... hopefully, beautiful statements.

Two New Lacma Exhibitions Explore Posters As Public Art

LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LACMA, simultaneously presents two exhibitions, Rauschenberg: Posters and German and Austrian Posters—War, Revolution, Protest: Recent Gifts to the Robert Gore Rifkind Center for German Expressionist Studies, March 10 through June 12, 2005. Comprising poster selections from two collections at LACMA (including highlights from a recent major donation to the Rifkind Center), both exhibitions examine poster art in various historical, social, and political contexts.

The Exhibitions

Rauschenberg: Posters (a promised gift of Stanley and Elyse Grinstein) chronicles the career of one of the most prolific poster artists of the 20th century. The more than 100 posters included in the exhibition exemplify Rauschenberg’s 40-plus years of consistent creation of mass-editioned, public-use fine art posters. Rauschenberg’s constant experimentation and innovation are evident throughout the show, from his collage technique incorporating newsprint to his solvent transfer drawings and silk-screened canvases, to brilliantly colored fabrics – each of which he used as the basis for his many posters.

The posters on view date from the 1960s to 2005. They advertised the artist’s own exhibitions in museums and commercial galleries worldwide, as well as cultural events and social concerns of personal importance. Rauschenberg’s interest in performance art, especially dance and music, stands out, as does his concern with environmental issues, world peace, population control, and intercultural exchange.

A special poster created by Rauschenberg to commemorate LACMA’s exhibition is also on view.

German and Austrian Posters—War, Revolution, Protest: Recent Gifts to the Robert Gore Rifkind Center for German Expressionist Studies explores the evolution of lithographic poster art in pre-and post-World War I Germany and Austria. Seventy posters—from a collection of more than 200 posters recently donated to the Rifkind Center by the Robert Gore Rifkind Foundation and Robert Gore Rifkind—illustrate how posters in the early 20th century were increasingly used as means of persuasion. Bold, brightly-colored images, given prominent positions in public spaces, promoted political doctrines, sold goods, and advertised film and theater events.

On view are examples of posters created in the decorative Art Nouveau style (known as Jugendstil in Germany and Austria). Other posters presented in German and Austrian Posters include World War I propaganda posters, post-war posters created by Expressionist artists, as well as German film, theater, and exhibition posters dating from the 1920s and 1930s. Related books and periodicals from the Rifkind Center complete the exhibition.

Could occasionally take photos of the ever-changing poster-art wheat-paste graffiti extravaganza of a collage-wall on Valencia to bring a little of our beautiful street posters to the web....if any of ya'll stroll around with your digital cameras, that is.

I would if I owned one. Maybe I'll borrow one and do just that.

Maybe there are posters springing up over night in your town that you could share, too......

Personally, I'd love to see what's happening in Minneapolis or Miami or Memphis or even a town that doesn't start with M.

Anyway, so I have posted some pieces on Zazzle.com, which claims to be able to sell individuals' poster/t-shirt art; but I haven't seen any results yet. Does anyone else use Zazzle or know of OTHER websites which are prepared to display and sell private digital art?

About 6 months ago I did a moving job for the widow of one of the Woodstock promoters.She gave me a few Woodstock posters,i was wondering if there was a market for such a thing...These are from the 1st Woodstock poster collection the Artest David Byrd with the copy write 1969 right on it...I well send picks if you might be interested in buying one...there really cool looking with a naked ladie on it in all....pEaCe...Brian

It's still worth a look as he shoves new stuff up to it all the time. The sample graphics are large enough to dump out to your full-page printer for tasteful placement in car windshields, office cubicles, and telephone-poles... and the lot of them downloaded make a great screen saver slideshow.
